Tennessee, the Volunteer State. It’s best known for the Great Smoky Mountains, Dolly Parton and country music, Jack Daniels and the Memphis blues. It’s also home to two of The Macomb Group branch locations serving a growing region of the country.
Macomb’s Clarksville Branch and its Nashville Branch are located approximately 60 miles apart, supplying contractors across the state with pipe, valves and fittings for a wide variety of applications.
Gregory “Tiny” Shrum is the branch manager at Clarksville, a branch which has been part of the Macomb Group for 15 years. He credits the high level of cooperation within the company for its success.
“Other branches are extremely helpful in allowing us to maintain inventories and move products,” he says. “We have a tremendous amount of resources in this company, with everybody working together as one big team.”
The Nashville Branch is among the newest Macomb Group locations and is headed by Rusty Tidwell. It opened in August but has already seen a considerable amount of business.
“Construction is starting on a new NFL stadium for the Tennessee Titans, and we’ve been fortunate to supply some underground products,” Tidwell reports. “We won these opportunities, which should increase as the stadium project ramps up.”
Both Shrum and Tidwell agree that the Nashville construction scene is a dynamic one.
“There are a lot of major construction projects underway in the Nashville market,” Tidwell continues. “We see good inroads ahead because The Macomb Group has an exceptionally good reputation among regional contractors. Our main thrust is to get our name out there and market our company even more.”
Both managers also note that there is a high level of cooperation between the Clarksville and Nashville locations, especially sharing resources, and moving product wherever it is needed.
“We recently hired a driver to transfer materials between the two locations,” Tidwell notes. “Often we’ll schedule daily trips to maintain a constant flow of material. “We also share support staff between the locations whenever needed.”
“The support system within our company is outstanding,” Tidwell concludes. “I’ll give it an A+.”
Being at the heart of the Volunteer State has been a resounding success so far, offering The Macomb Group key branch assets right in the heart of the country.
