This year is the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week! Started in 1922 by the National Fire Prevention Association, President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the week which commemorates the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Ever since, it has been observed during the week in which October 9th falls because that was the day the Chicago Fire did the most damage. This year the week is observed October 9th–15th and it’s an opportune time to recognize the contributions of The Macomb Group’s Fire & Fabrication Division.
The “fire fab” division, as it’s widely known, carries a wide range of products for commercial fire sprinkler/suppression systems, including piping, sprinkler heads, and alarms, both visual and audible.
According to Jeff Sancricca, the division’s supervisor and e-commerce team member, contractors tasked with engineering and building the systems work with Fire & Fabrication Division experts to choose the appropriate components.
“We also play a key role beyond that,” adds Sancricca. “We trim the piping to the exact specified lengths, place openings for sprinkler heads where needed, and provide any ancillary components and supplies needed for assembly.”
“We deliver them their ‘tinker toys’ ready to assemble into a complete fire suppression system,” Sancricca notes.
While the Fire & Fabrication Division sells and fabricates products designed to stop fire from causing injury or death, and minimizing property loss, Sancricca emphasizes that the number one role all fire prevention and protection services have in common “is that everybody comes home safely.”
