With its diverse mix of industries, Pittsburgh and the surrounding Tri-State Area has long been an active market for numerous large scale PVF applications. Now more than ever The Macomb Group is building its presence in the Pittsburgh area marketplace with the appointment of a regional manager to build awareness of the company’s many products and services.
Todd Shumate, a 20-plus year veteran of the industrial products business, is playing a key role for The Macomb Group’s growth in the region. He sees positive energy throughout the Pittsburgh community, both among contractors and end users as various projects regain their momentum. No industry has seen more growth in the area than oil and gas exploration.
“This area – Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Eastern Ohio – straddles the Utica and Marcellus shale deposits,” Shumate explains, “making it the second largest oil and gas market in the country.”
Because of the shale finds over the past decade, midstream and upstream companies involved in oil and natural gas exploration and distribution have been building the infrastructure to carry products from the ground to consumers, according to Shumate.
With this abundance of oil and gas resources in the region, Shumate predicts that the next 5-7 years will see further retooling and new construction of distribution networks, all requiring vast amounts of PVF products and other equipment.
Besides oil and gas, Shumate is optimistic on further opportunities in steel manufacturing, chemical processing, health care, and other diverse PVF applications, not just in the Pittsburgh area, but extending to the Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati markets as well.
“This is a really exciting time for this region and The Macomb Group is right there playing a part,” says Shumate.
