Sharing knowledge about the various uses and fabrication techniques for lined pipe and fittings took place recently as The Macomb Group teamed up with Baum North America to conduct a series of product seminars.
Held at Macomb Group’s lined-pipe fabrication center located within in its Midland (MI) branch, the sessions were designed to highlight Macomb’s expanding partnership with Baum. Account managers were provided product training, an introduction to the company’s in-house fabrication capabilities and a look at the inventory investments made to support the lined pipe product effort.
According to Scott Henegar, who has been tasked with establishing Macomb’s lined pipe capabilities, 17 account managers from nine Macomb Group branch locations participated.
“The sessions were conducted in small groups over a three-day period combining classroom-style sessions with hands-on training in our fabrication shop,” Henegar explained.
Each session included a review of lined pipe product features and potential applications by Baum factory representative Bob Kryzwosinski. An in-shop demonstration of the lined pipe spool fabrication process was performed for all attendees allowing them to see the process from beginning to end. Finally, a sales strategy discussion was conducted to identify target accounts in the various Macomb Group branch regions. Schedules were established that will provide for joint calls with Macomb account managers and Baum factory representatives.
With the opening of the Midland fabrication center last April and the training that’s been taking place, the center is actively taking customer orders and custom fabricating Baum lined pipe products for a wide range of customers and applications. “We’ve been pretty busy with orders coming in,” Henegar said. “It’s exciting to finally be running full-tilt.”
Seminar attendees came from our Pittsburgh, Akron, Cincinnati, Toledo, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Livonia, Flint and Sterling Heights Branches.
