It’s been an exciting ride for The Macomb Group as the company continues to supply a wide range of materials for a major automotive mixed use project in Detroit’s Corktown community.
The project, which rests on a 30-acre redevelopment parcel, will use Macomb Group supplied pipe, valves and fittings for nearly 100% of the new construction, according to Ian Thomas, heating division and operations manager, and Alan Thomas, the company’s outside sales representative for the project.
“Our involvement includes plumbing as well as HVAC applications,” notes Ian Thomas. “That includes steel, copper, high density polyethylene (HDPE), and valves.”
In addition, noted Alan Thomas, The Macomb Group is supplying boilers, pressure reducing valve stations, “and all of the snowmelt and radiant heat as part of our equipment involvement.”
Work with contractors and engineers began three years ago, and project completion is tentatively scheduled for 2023.
“We’ll be continuing to provide anything and everything we can this year and throughout the next year up to completion date,” said Ian Thomas.
“It’s exciting, he added, “to be involved locally with such a high-profile project, which will greatly advance automotive technology.”
From technology campuses to industrial parks and other major projects, The Macomb Group has the breadth of knowledge, inventory, and solid manufacturer connections to move any large-scale project from conception to successful completion.
