You may have noticed that over the past several years, The Macomb Group has been growing. Sometimes that growth has taken the form of adding or acquiring new locations, but in other cases, it has meant expanding on what we already have.

That has been the case in our Grand Rapids and Lansing branches. We’re investing in these existing locations to make sure we’re providing the best, most advanced services to our customers now and far into the future.

Growth in Grand Rapids

Both of these branches are well established, and each one has seen steady, sustained growth and demand over the past several years. To keep up with the services clients in these areas need, The Macomb Group opted to expand the facilities in two separate, but equally significant, projects.

As a hub for the western Michigan region, the Grand Rapids branch assists both the Lansing and Kalamazoo locations. The Grand Rapids team also meets many needs for mechanical contractors serving the local industrial market and offers specialties in fire protection and sanitary tube and fittings for the many nearby food plants. To stay ahead of competitors, these commitments require a lot of on-hand inventory.

“Since opening the branch in Grand Rapids over six years ago, we have had tremendous growth, expanded our customer base, and have many more product lines and specialty items that need to be stocked in order to create the sales opportunities in our local area,” says branch manager Jim Mouat.

To address these needs, the Grand Rapids office has undergone a complete remodel. In addition to adding 40,000 square feet of space to the existing building, they’ve also revamped the older space with a complete remodel. When the updates are completed this fall, the result will be a more modern, open, and appealing space inside and out, in addition to a lot more room for storage and inventory.

What can customers in Grand Rapids expect? “Besides all of the cosmetic upgrades to the facility, customers will also see an expanded will-call area with dedicated personnel to provide service and assistance. They’ll also find a new customer access area where they can see how equipment works and even try out features. Our hydronic system will be on display for them to observe, too. It’s like a ‘petting zoo’ so to speak,” Jim explains. “But, most important, at the completion of this project the customers will continue to see the highest levels of service, dedication, and sense of urgency from the entire staff to assist them in any way necessary.”

A lot more room in Lansing

The Lansing office completed its expansion four years ago and the remodeling process was finished a couple months ago. The additional space has allowed them to add new customers and grow their business with existing ones.

“We have a more efficient work area and additional work space, allowing us to add additional employees as well as additional inventory space,” says Steve Wymer, the West Region’s Operations Manager. “We also have an updated and larger training area. We can use that space for employee training or for training sessions for our customers.”

The 13,000 square-foot warehouse addition roughly doubled the size of the previous space, giving the Lansing operation plenty of room to house the inventory necessary to serve local mechanical contractors, industries, and Jackson-area customers.

The remodeled office and training room also sets this 11-year-old branch apart from the competition. This space serves as a hub for employees and customers who want to learn more about the expert products and solutions offered by The Macomb Group.

“Our inventory and commitment to superior customer service is what we feel sets us apart from our competitors,” Steve says.

More than just a pretty space

The industry leaders in Grand Rapids and Lansing serve the needs of their local contractors and provide additional support for our other locations throughout the Midwest and eastern states. We’re proud to say that both of these locations — as well as our other branches — are more than just cutting-edge spaces. These offices also employ experts. In fact, the staff at each office location has over 100+ years of combined industry experience!

As The Macomb Group’s physical footprint expands, so does their commitment to their local areas and beyond. So if you’re near either location, we hope you’ll stop in to see how our new space and helpful employees can serve you!
